A Mahjong Club for Fountaineers

Want to learn something new, connect with coworkers in a different way, grow your brain, and be part of a growing nationwide movement?

I am hoping to launch The Breakroom Bamboo Club in April with a guided, beginner-friendly Mahjong training series right here at Fountain Mortgage.

I have contacted professional Mahjong instructor Kristin McLaughlin, who specializes in American-style Mahjong, to lead a structured, hands-on learning experience.

This is designed for beginners. No prior Mahjong experience required.

How It Works

Length:
3 consecutive weeks of instruction / one day per week

Time:
5:00–7:00 pm

Day of the Week:
Monday, Tuesday, or Wednesday

Location:
Fountain Mortgage event space

Once you commit, attendance for all three weeks is required. This ensures consistency, momentum, and a great group experience.

Training Series Format

✔ Two hours of live instruction each week
✔ All Mahjong tiles, cards, and supplies provided
✔ Guided play and hands-on learning
✔ Food and beverages provided by our group
✔ Lots of early confusion followed by ah-ha! moments and laughter

Kristin handles the teaching and materials. You just show up ready to learn and play.

Cost

$45 per person, per session
$135 total for all 3 weeks

Group Size Requirements

• Minimum of 6 participants
• Ideal group size is 8+ people

This ensures we always have enough players for full games during each session.

What Happens After Training

Once we complete the three-week training series, the plan is to host Mahjong Nights at the office once or twice a month for anyone who wants to keep playing.
